We are the golden thread that ties the treasures of Hato Rey's past, present and future together.

In an intimate space on La Milla de Oro, a staff member walks you through three chapters of one story — the building's history, the project it's becoming, and the rum that runs through it all.

Chapter one · The past · 1960s

The Fomento Building

A story of progress

Once the Old Fomento Building, this 1960s landmark housed the agency behind Operation Bootstrap — the campaign that used bold incentives to transform Puerto Rico from an agrarian island into an industrial one. La Milla de Oro grew up around it, pivoting from farmland to the island's financial center. Even the Oro icon is drawn from the building's own geometric façade.

Chapter two · The future · 2024 +

Oro on the Golden Mile

A story of momentum

The building that helped reinvent Puerto Rico is being reinvented in turn — as Oro on the Golden Mile, an Autograph Collection hotel and branded residences. See it come to life through renderings and a 3D model of the tower: a tropical modernist reinterpretation that keeps the building's cultural essence intact.

Chapter three · The partnership · Since 1880

Ron del Barrilito

From cane to cask

Before the Golden Mile meant finance, the island's gold was sugar cane. Ron del Barrilito — Puerto Rico's oldest continuously operating rum distillery, made by the Fernández family since 1880 — anchors the experience with barrels, sugarcane tools and archival treasures. It's the story behind Oro's own Barrilito Bar, and a standing invitation to visit Hacienda Santa Ana in Bayamón.
